1950’s/Fifties

Designer Gemma Moore wanted an appropriately retro style in her 1950’s village house. She sourced and renovated an original Kitchenette and unusual bow-fronted cupboard to set the tone, completing the design with new cupboards accessorised with chrome pulls. A waste sorting bin and oak book shelves juxtapose with the bow fronted cupboard to create the island. An iconic Smeg fridge freezer, Rayburn 800 cast iron cooker and double farmhouse sink complete the look.

1980’s/Eighties

Our kitchens have followed these clients as they moved from house to house! Their current home had no significant architectural features to follow, and the brief was to design a classically timeless kitchen with the focus on the semi-professional cooking appliances, with everything to be at a height to reflect the fact that both clients are tall and hope to be in the property for the long term. A bespoke extractor hood, colour matched glass splashbacks and cool duck egg blue paintwork establish a fresh but subtle scheme.

2000’s/Noughties

This home is newly built with Georgian overtones. The kitchen was too long and wide for a classic galley kitchen, yet too narrow to take cupboards on both sides and fit in an island. The dimensions were complicated with a curved wall which followed the line of a circular staircase. To create a comfortable working dynamic, we sited the range cooker in an island opposite the main sink; created full height curved storage cupboards around the staircase and established a vegetable preparation area complete with sink between the fridge and freestanding larder.
